A thin-film finish with real surface prep behind it.

Cerakote is a ceramic-polymer coating known for durability, scratch and chemical resistance, corrosion protection, flexibility, and heat performance. It can be applied to many metals, polymers, composites, and other properly prepared substrates.

Our process starts well before color. We inspect the firearm or item, disassemble it as needed, degrease it, blast it, mask it, spray it to specification, cure it, and check it before reassembly.

The eight-step coating process

  1. 01

    Inspect

    The item is checked for safety, condition, and any issues that need repair before refinishing.

  2. 02

    Disassemble

    Parts are separated and assessed. Tight or damaged components may require replacement or additional work.

  3. 03

    Degrease

    Coated parts receive a thorough solvent cleaning to remove oil, grease, and contamination.

  4. 04

    Plan markings

    Painted or light markings can be lost during preparation. Serial-number masking and readable depth are reviewed before coating.

  5. 05

    Blast

    Fine aluminum-oxide media creates a clean, consistent surface for adhesion.

  6. 06

    Spray

    Parts are hung, masked, and sprayed to Cerakote’s application standards.

  7. 07

    Cure

    The finish is baked to specification, with stencil stages completed in the correct sequence.

  8. 08

    Inspect & reassemble

    Thickness, texture, color, and coverage are checked before the project moves to final assembly.

Painted or lightly etched markings may be removed during preparation. Serial numbers and required marks are reviewed for masking, depth, and legibility before work.

06How long does Cerakote take?

Timing varies with disassembly, repair needs, color count, stencil complexity, curing, reassembly, and our current queue. We’ll estimate your project after reviewing it.

07Can Cerakote be combined with machining or engraving?

Yes. Planning the full sequence before work begins produces the cleanest relationship between cuts, markings, and finish.

08How is the project priced?

Our published menu gives starting prices by item and pattern. We confirm the final quote from the item, disassembly, preparation, masking, number of colors, and design complexity.
